When you have exhausted all the options in Paris, why not
take the train out to some beautiful places just outside
Paris for the day. Here we have recommended just a few
places for you to discover.
Château
de Versailles
Versailles is a magnificent area to visit, just half an hour
by train from Paris - but you could make it a two day trip,
as there is so much to see. The Palace was built by Louis
XIV who wanted to escape busy life in Paris, and keep the
nobility under his watchful eye. Each section of the
government had its headquarters here until the mid 1700s,
during which time the Palace and its surroundings developed
into a sprawling estate. Magnificent gardens, fountains and
buildings developed and even a small town was created which
can all still be seen today. You may take a guided tour of
the Palace or see the State apartments of the king and queen
and the Hall of Mirrors, where the Treaty of Versailles was
signed to end World War 1, on your own. The Palace of
Versailles is one of the most popular places to visit in
France, so you can expect long queues and restricted
visiting times. For more information you may click here
